An Alumni of Ringling's Clown College, Garry Otis Irvingwhite has performed with Mattel's Circus World, Ringling Bros.-Barnum and Bailey's Red Unit, Circus Vargas, UniverSoul Circus, and has been with Fern Street Circus as Clown Otis for the past 10 years. Garry is presently a full-time employee with the County of San Diego and two of his favorite hobbies are teaching and building clown routines, and playing the trombone. This is Garry's first year as Artistic Director following his two years as Assistant Director.
Joel has been with Fern Street Circus for over three years, focusing on aerial arts. He shares his experience training young aerialists in the fabric, Spanish Web, and static trapeze and has introduced many to aerial arts at hands-on circus events. Although Joel has performed primarily in aerial fabric at local venues for Fern Street Circus, he also has experience in several other disciplines. This year, he will be introducing aerial net to this spring's "Fern Street Circus Around the World Cruise" show in Balboa Park.
Born and grown up in Morelos, Cynthia moved to Mexico city at the age of 18, when she started her University studies on Philosophy. During those years she also introduced herself into dance techniques such as modern, contemporary and afoantillan. At the end of her studies, she worked as a cultural journalist and wrote several chronicles on scenic arts. At the same time, she performed with the new circus group Circo del Vicio-Otro Circo, on festivals and spectacles. Since she moved to Rosarito a few months ago by love reasons, she's been collaborating with Radiante Press and now she's glad to have joined and perform with the Fern Street Circus.
Since his early beginnings as a street performer in San Diego's Balboa Park, Bobby has made his mark, across the country and around the world as a juggler and entertainer. Bobby returns for his fifth season in Fern Street Circus. Bobby's other performance credits include San Francisco's Make*A*Circus, performances with The New Pickle Circus, and Huis Ten Bosch Theme Park in Nagasaki, Japan as one half of The Riptide Jugglers. Bobby is also the Program Director for Fern Street Circus.
Originally from Golden Hill, Corky gained local renown as a 15 year old member of Ringling Bros. "Chicago Kidz" in 1995-1996. He returned home to star in the 1997 and 1998 editions of Fern Street Circus. Since then he has become a much valued teacher of cheer, the sport outgrowth of cheerleading.
After majoring in Theater at UCLA and graduating with a degree in Film from California Institute of the Arts, Kristen Bentz spent a decade as an editor for fashion magazines before deciding she liked red sequins better than black wool. Soon after making the life-altering decision to run away with the circus, she was admitted to the prestigious Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College in 1996. Since then, she has worked as a circus performer for private and corporate events. She has also acted in critically acclaimed plays and films, and was instrumental in creating the comic bits and preshow for Sea World's Cirque De La Mer. Her own photographs of Kika, her clown character, were recently featured in the Make Shift Gallery of Fine Arts. For the past five years she has taught and performed for Fern Street Circus.
